Getting To Cerritos Beach

We recommend using the San Jose del Cabo Airport (SJD) for traveling to our area, and then renting a car at the Airport. The drive is safe on a 4 lane divided highway and takes about an hour and fifteen (1:15) minutes. You can stop at Costco, Walmart, La Comer, or many other Supermarkets on the way to the Villas de Cerritos for food and drink.

Toll Road From Cabo To CerritosFrom Cabo:

Go North on the 4-lane Highway 19 toward Todos Santos. Turn left on to a dirt road marked by Cerritos Beach signs at roughly the 65 km marker, after a mile you will make a slight left and go straight for 300 yards. You will see a three story cream colored building on your right. At the rock wall take a right turn on a small dirt road and another right hand turn where the wall makes a turn. You will see the parking lot and reception are from there. If you end up in the town of El Pescedero then you went about ½ mile to far. There is another road into Cerritos before the road mentioned above. If you end up on that road just Follow down towards the beach. The road will wind down to the right and you will pass a surf shop on right. Stay on the main dirt road until you start coming up a slight hill. Take a right on top of the hill and you should be able to see the 3 story condo tower about 200 yards away.

La Comer:

La Comer has everything you need to stock up for your trip. If you are taking the toll road towards Todos Santos once you come to the end of the toll road take a left at the end of the road.  La Comer will be a few miles down on your right as soon as you get into Cabo.  La Comer has a large assortment of fruit, vegetable, cheeses, meats etc..  You can also find sunscreen, towels, electronics, cooking needs, and games. It’s equivalent to the big box stores in the US and Canada. La Comer also has a bank machine and it’s a great place to pull out some cash before heading North.  If you buying beverage it’s best to buy aluminum cans since they recycle aluminum in Todos Santos.

From La Paz or Todos Santos Village:

Go South on the 4-lane Highway 19. Turn right on to a dirt road marked by Cerritos Beach signs at roughly the 65 km marker, after a mile you will make a slight left and go straight for 300 yards. You will see a three-story cream colored building on your right. At the rock wall and Pacifico Beer Sign take a right turn on a small dirt road to our temporary entrance and park.

Cerritos Beach is about 45 minutes North of Cabo and is part of the town El Pescadero. The artist town of Todos Santos is about 10 miles north of Cerritos It’s one of only 30 communities in Mexico to receive the honor of a “Pueblo Magico,” or “Magical Town,” a designation awarded for retaining its authentic historic and artistic charm. There are at least 20 art galleries.

1. Should I rent a car?

Yes, we recommend it. There is a lot to explore in and around Cerritos Beach and Todos Santos. There are amazing beaches, art galleries, great restaurants and more. Your trip will be more enjoyable if you take advantage of being mobile. There are US rental car companies at the airport, but you will get better rates if you plan ahead. Check with your credit card company, most of them will take care of collision insurance. If you choose not to rent a car, you can take a taxi to/from the airport.

2. Are there restaurants near by the resort?

Yes, There is a pizza spot on site and just down the steps on the beach is the Cerritos Beach Club, as well as the Cerritos Surf Colony Bar & Grill. The Hacienda Hotel has a Palapa bar on site and a restaurant. Within walking distance of the resort is Miguel´s restaurant and Tres Souls. You can also drive into town. El Pescadero is 5 minutes away and Todos Santos is 10 minutes away. Both towns have fantastic restaurants! Definitely try Carlitos restaurant in Pescadero, and Café Santa Fe, Miguels, Tequila Sunrise, and the Hotel California in Todos Santos. Our favorite breakfast spot is The Café Todos Santos.

3. Are there places that rent surf and boogie boards on the beach, wetsuits, etc?

Yes, there are 2 surf shops at Cerritos beach that rent surf boards for only 30 dollars a day, as well as some surf wear. Also, there are surf instructors that give private and group lessons.

4. Is the beach safe?

Cerritos Beach is the only safe swimming and surfing beach on the Pacific for hundreds of miles. However, like the ocean anywhere, please use caution! Use caution when swimming next to the rock on the North side of the beach. It looks calm but there is a very strong rip tide.

5. Will my cell phone work?

Both AT&T & Verizon work well.. Please check with your phone company to see if there is anything special you should do before you travel. There may be a Mexican rate plan you can have while you are on your trip. The are also prepay phones you can buy for 30 dollars with minutes included that you can get from any cell phone company here in town which will work very well, also is very cheap to call the US. You can also download Whatapp , Viber, or Skype. The Casita has Wifi so once connected you can make call on Skype if you prepay for Skype credits.

6. Debit or Credit Cards

If you coming from out of county it’s best to notify your bank and let them know you will be in Mexico. The closest ATM is located at the gas station in El Pescadero.

7. How far is the closest grocery store?

There are vegetable stands and grocery stores 5 minutes away in Pescadero and in Todos Santos, 10 minutes away.

8. Good Stuff To Know

The Casita has a beach umbrella and two beach chairs for use. If you need more you can stop at Costco on the way in and they have a large assortment of beach gear. You can also use the chairs and umbrella at the Beach Club restaurant on the beach as long as you buy drink / food. There is a 5 gallon water jug at the Casita. If you run out just bring your water jug to the office and for 20 pesos they will give you a new one. Most places only accept cash so it’s best to bring cash down with you. They have massages on the beach and they cost around 20 per half hour and 40 per hour.
